A shared response depends on more than knowing where equipment is kept. The course brings risk awareness, equipment knowledge and supervised learning together, with trainer assessment of practical competence.
Aims of the course
Build the knowledge and practical learning needed to recognise ligature risk, understand staff responsibilities and develop responses through supervised training. The course brings together proactive working practices, risk assessment and practical scenarios.

How the course works
Learning & delivery
A half-day course combining discussion, equipment awareness and supervised practical scenarios. Allow approximately 3–4 hours, depending on learner numbers and questions.
All PCT courses are delivered face to face.
Assessment & certification
Learners take part in supervised practical scenarios and are assessed by the trainer. A certificate is issued after the learner demonstrates an accepted level of competence.

Refresher training: PCT requires refresher training every two years.
